Countdown to Vancouver Olympics 2010

It was really something when we saw it go through my little home town of Jordan...since it was such a small town, there weren't alot of people and we got to stand and talk to one of the torchbearers....
Here's a couple pics of my kids and the torchbearer (Alex...he was from Toronto), my Mom and Alex and when the torch was 'exchanged'.....








It must be pretty exciting to be right 'in the middle of things', pepsipeople!!  You'll have to keep us posted!!

Great pics, DDBcrazy. Your sons sure are cute. What a great experinece for them to be photographed with one of the torch bearers. It won't belong now.......a little more than 3 weeks.

I just watched a great report on CTV about "Kootenay Knitters" and what a fabulous job they are doing with producing knitted merchandise for the Olympics. They can't keep up with the demand.

 If I had a small child, I'd be ordering some clothing etc. for sure. Cool stuff.

I had to go to the Olympic store 4 or 5 times looking for the mitts. They were always out of stock. My wife finally found some though..

My kids received a pair of mittens from my parents for Christmas.  They are so cute and warm too.  they have a fleece lining in them.  I want a pair now.

P.S.  Believe it or not, we have palm trees planted year round in English Bay.  Notice no igloos or polar bears.....lol

I love the igloo comment. So often I here people talking about how cold it is here. In Vancouver to hit freezing is rare. Right now we are hoping for snow on the mountains for the games.

Vancouver is beautiful (as is all of BC really ) For anyone who hasn't been here, you really should plan a trip! Skiing in the winter, or hanging out in the parks and on the beaches in the summer!

I am really looking forward to the Olympics -- I have always loved watching the games -- but will be watching from the comfort of our living room! LOL! I am not going anywhere near Vancouver or Whistler

The torch went through here last weekend -- the woman who is my teaching assistant was one of the torch bearers -- so I got to see the torch up close and hold it -- very cool! However, when you buy your torch, they take out the fuel canister and cut the lines so you can't light it!

I'm just not looking to paying for the games for many years to come I hope the protests are kept to a minimum -- the time for that was years ago when they were bidding for the games. I figure we are paying for the party, so we may as well enjoy it! LOL!

I am looking forward to sharing our city with the world. Its going to be fun.

Work for me is going to be hell because I have jobs all around Vancouver but its only a few weeks so what the hell....

I will be heading into the city a few days to just take everything in. Can't wait !!!

For all those people who have never heard of Nikki Yanofsky.....get ready. She is already a winner in all the jazz festivals and what a great voice. She's only 15, I believe, and experts are saying she'll be the next Celine Dion. A sweet girl. She sings the official Olympic song "I Believe".

The torch came through today. I was really neat to see. 4 more days. I can't wait. Its going to be a huge party for 2 weeks in the city. I hope I can take lots of it in!!

There was a group on Canada A.M. this morning singing a funny song "Hey El Nino, Send Us some Snow". Looking forward to the Opening Ceremonies on Friday.

Well today is the big day. After all the planning, the big torch relay, all the athletes are ready to let the games begin. It is great to see Canada's First Nations peoples so involved in this year's Olympics and for the first time, the games will be broadcasted in English and French as well as 8 different Aboriginal languages.

I can't wait to watch the Opening Ceremonies tonight.....just hours away..
