My hubby and I are taking our 2 teenage daughters (14, 17) to BM from July 6-13. They are so afraid there won't be any other teenagers there and they will be bored hanging out with mom and dad. I think we are alot of fun to be with but then again I'm not a teenager, oh well. Is there anyone else out there going the same time??? Don't forget to add your name to the calendar on this site.

We won't be there at the same time, but it sounds like there are lots of teens at the resort. We are taking three 17-18 year old boys with us, so I have been reading all the posts looking for teens. One just asked me yesterday if there was going to be other teens there to hang out with. We are at the Barcelo 6/25-7/1. Check the calendar for your dates.

We just returned with 5 teens last Wednesday. The kids met other teens from members of this board. We did make meeting times, but really didn't need them. We all ran into each other at the pool. The night life for the teens is really rough. No Captain Morgans, and you have to be 18 or older for the disco. We were able to get our kids in the disco, but it was really tough. They were turning kids away every night, and many many upset parents and kids. Management is very well aware that there are some pretty big problems and may complaints. We ourselves were not impressed. Maybe they will reopen Captain Morgans.

Sounds like playa del carmen will be getting a lot of nightly business with families and teens...i am sure we'll be high on the list... no a good thing for teens...need some kind of nightly entertainment...with or without parents...

We definately visited in Playa, the kids loved the Parrot Bay and Senor Frogs. Our kids ranged from 15 to 18, and of course we were with them at all times, even in the disco at the resort. The resort disco ages ranged from 15 to 50. One of our moms had to ask a older gentleman, (and I use the term loosely), to quit grabbing our teens. He was quite offended, but did walk away from the girls. The age group in the disco is not designed to have young teens in there at all, without a parent. The kids in there were pretty well behaved, it was the adults that got a little out of hand.

Dolly
Are your teens boys or girls? We definitely need to figure out a meeting place/time. I know the kids will eventually start talking but one of mine is really shy and by the time she starts talking we may be leaving to come home! I want them to enjoy the week! I'm sure they will but if we can all meet early on, maybe we will all enjoy each other's company. Where are you traveling from? Which side are you staying on?

Hi Diverchick! My kids are daughter Laine just turned 18. son Jack 15. Laine is a bit shy herself. I agree it would be great to set somthing up ahead of time for a meeting place, although im not so sure how my kids will feel about it. They think this whole web site is kind of strange! ( you know how teens are) Hopefully we can get a few familys together before we leave. We are staying at the beach side, traveling from beautiful Ohio!!

I'm confused...is the Disco a non-alcohol facility? I see people wanting to take their teenagers so I'm thinking this is not a Bar that serves booze.

The disco does have alcohol and it's for 18 and over. 18 is the drinking age in Mexico.

stokoe7 -- Sorry for the confusion! We were hoping we could go to the disco as a family (thought it may be fun for the kids). We were not planning on our teenagers drinking anything but non alcoholic drinks. I assume other people may have been thinking the same.

I'll be there July 3rd - 13th with my 3 teenagers. I have two girls, Rachel 14 and Sarah 18, and a son, Brian, who is 16. I'll add their names to the calendar. I'm sure my girls would love to hang out with your girls.

We too will arrive with 2 girls seriously looking forward to making new friends like last year, ages 11 and 15. They are very sad to learn of the new disco being adult only, hope there are alternatives to this! If a meeting place is set, please let us know. Coming from Texas!
