Rooms

All rooms are in 3-storey high buildings, running perpendicular to the beach. The buildings are served by several sets of stairs and an elevator bank for handicap access/luggage.

All rooms have either a king size or two double beds.

Check-in time is 3:00 pm and check-out is 12:00 pm.

The rooms sizes are large and very comfortable for 2 people, however maximum occupancy is 4 per room.

Guests staying at either the Beach or Caribe Beach have access to both sections. Which section you are booked in therefore becomes meaningless, so pick the one that is the cheapest if you have a choice. Staying at the Beach/Caribe Beach, you will also have access to the amenities offered by the Colonial/Tropical sections, with the exception of the buffets and à la carte restaurants.

Guests of the Colonial and Tropical sections have access to all the ammenities in all four sections of the resort (Beach, Caribe Beach, Colonial and Tropical).

Furnishings

There is a dresser, two bedside tables, lamps, free minibar, a scale, hair dryer, ironing board with iron and closet. There is a safe, alarm clock and coffee maker. There is an extra pillow and blanket in the closet. New slippers (you can take home) and robes are provided. There is air conditioning (shuts off when balcony door is opened) and a ceiling fan.

Minibar

The minibar has water, beer, soft drinks, snacks and chocolate. It is not restocked when the rooms were cleaned, instead a separate trolley comes around in the afternoon. This is included with your package. If you would prefer more beer and less soft drinks in your fridge, etc., leave a note in the minibar and your wish will be granted.

Television

The rooms have a TV with a variety of English, and Spanish channels such as CNN World, CNN Sports, CNN Financial, ESPN, Cinemax, TNT, HBO, and Disney. There's also Pay Per View in  3 categories: Still in Theatres (more like recently released to video); Box Office Hits (variety of recent movies); and Adult. There were also some music channels and Barcelo TV channel highlighting activities/ammenities around the resort.

Balcony/Patio

The second and third floor rooms have balconies and the ground floor rooms have a patio. The patio/balcony is great for people watching if it faces a pathway area. If you overlook the gardens, you will have a beautiful view of the surrounding plantings and jungle. The palm trees are large and lush so there is no real view of the ocean from any of the rooms. There are drying racks on each balcony.

Bathroom

The bathroom has a large, deep tub (careful getting in short people), a large marble vanity, magnifying mirror, hair dryer, 1 sink and a toilet. A variety of toiletries are provided including sewing kit, shower cap, shaving cream/razor, soaps, comb, shoe shine, etc.

Jr. Suites

In Beach/Caribe, there are two Jr. Suites per floor per building, they all face the ocean and are the 2nd room in from ends of the building. The Jr. Suite has a small sitting area, with 2 arm chairs, coffee table and a 2 seater sofa. The sofa is also a fold out bed. Families with kids like this option.

In Tropical/Colonial, there are 100 Jr. Suites. They are the front rooms of every building, facing the pools. The Jr. Suite is slightly larger than a standard room, has a separate rain shower head in the bathroom (in addition to the bathtub and shower), a second closet and a small foyer with console table.

To upgrade to a Jr. Suite is US$70/person/night at the resort and US$60/person/night before your arrival.

Master Suites

In Beach/Caribe, there is 1 master suite per building, on the third floor in the centre of the building, facing the ocean. The master suites are nice! There is a large sitting area, with television, a separate dining area with glass table and chairs. There is also more closet space and a jacuzzi tub. There is a separate shower area with glass door. The balcony is also much larger, one area with a hammock and another with 2 chairs and table. The balcony is also open so you can see out while sitting there.

In Tropical/Colonial, there is 1 master suite per building. They are similar to the Master Suites in Beach/Caribe and the TVs are plasma.

To upgrade to a Master Suite is US$100/person/night at the resort and US$90/person/night before your arrival.

Privacy

Hang the "Do not disturb" tag when you do not wish to be disturbed. Remember to remove the tag when you want your room to be cleaned.

Housekeeping

You are provided with the usual, shower cap, shaving kit (razor and tiny tube of shaving cream), tooth brush, tiny tube of toothpaste, soaps, comb, shoeshine, sewing kit. For environmental conservation, towels and sheets are changed every 3 days, if you need it changed more often you leave out a sign. I think that is great, much more environmentally friendly and less wasteful. You may also get little swans and so on made with your towels from time to time. If you want you can call for extra towels, hangers, etc.

Laundry

There is a laundry bag and price list in the closet. The prices are fairly high but it's available in a pinch.

Safety Box

There is a safety box free of charge located in your closet. I recommend you to place your jewelry and other personal objects of value in the box. The hotel will not be responsible for objects not placed in the safety box. You program your own PIN so make sure you don't forget it!

We left a fair bit of money in here and didn't once feel compromised. We would only carry a couple of dollars with us, just in case. We didn't remove our passport, ID from the safe during the entire stay. We also kept our home house keys here, so we wouldn't get it lost with the rest of the luggage. We also kept our cameras and laptop in here. It's fairly large and should be able to handle all your valuables.

Electricity

The electricity voltage is 110 volts/60 hertz.

You need an adapter if any appliances you are bringing has a long and a short plug (polarized). The outlets are also a bit inset so if your plug is large (like chargers tend to be), you'll need an adapter. Also, bring an extension cord as there aren't a lot of outlets in the room for charging cameras, etc.

Room Service

  • Room service is available 24 hours. There's a US$4 fee per item
  • Room service menu [PDF]

Suggestions

Please do not take bath towels or other objects out of your room. Any losses or breakage due to misuse will be charged to your account.

For esthetic reasons do not hang towels on the balcony or window of your room.

For privacy when you're resting, use the lock on the door.

Do not light any candles or incense in the rooms.
